Pumpkin Patch with Caleb

Today I went on a field trip with Caleb and his 4K class to the pumpkin patch.  He got to ride the big school bus for the first time in his life.  He has loved school buses since he was small, and was actually excited to ride it, although you can't tell from his "zoolander" face above!  (That face just makes me laugh!)
We went on a hayride, fed cows candy, saw baby calves, saw pigs, stuffed a scarecrow, and picked out a pumpkin!
Again, he was excited to pick out a pumpkin, but you couldn't tell it from these pictures.  He was talking to me as we walked around, and at one point his teacher was in front of us on the pathway.  She actually jumped in surprise when she heard him talking behind her.  She says he hardly ever talks at school and is so shy.  Boy, does he have them fooled!  :-)  He was too camera shy to even look at the lady taking our picture together below.
As a chaperone, I had a group of four 4 yr old boys to keep up with on the trip.  They actually were very well behaved and listened well.  However, the one thing I was very thankful I packed in my backpack - kleenex . . . they seemed to constantly need it to wipe their noses.  The one thing I wished I would've remembered - hand sanitizer!
And proof below, back in the comfort of our home, that Caleb really was EXCITED to get a pumpkin!
So, even though I am now 6 1/2 months pregnant, and after the field trip I required a 3 hour nap to recover, I am thankful that I got the chance to go and have this special one on one time with my baby, Caleb.  He won't be my youngest baby much longer!

Awards Day for Ethan

Today Ethan had awards in his classroom to celebrate the accomplishments of the first nine weeks of school in first grade.  Ethan received several awards, a "Marvelous Math Award" for making a 100 on his Fast Facts test, a "100 Book Challenge Award" for being on target for the number of books he's read so far, a "Principal's Honor Roll Award" for achieving straight A's in all subjects, and a "Character Award" in recognition of being an excellent role model and exhibiting good character.  We are so proud of you, Ethan!

GWU Homecoming 2010 - 10 years later

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since I graduated from Gardner-Webb University!  This past weekend was Homecoming and we went for tailgating, the parade, and the football game.  It was great to catch up with our close friends, whom we've been able to stay in contact with, as well as see some people we haven't seen since we left there!  The campus has definitely changed a lot . . . seems much more like a BIG University than a small Christian College, like when I was there.  Even though the boys only lasted until half time of the game, it was still a great time with friends.  We of course had to enjoy an early dinner at Italian Garden before we left, my favorite restaurant to eat at when we were in school there!  It was great to visit with Kevin and Melinda Helton, Mark and Amanda Dougherty, Ben and Ginger Parton, and Kelly Jan.  We missed all of you friends who could not join us this year!

Fall Leaves

Caleb had a homework assignment from 4K this past week to pick out a leaf to bring to school.  Ever since that day, both boys have been obsessed with finding the perfect leaf . . . each day they have a different color leaf they are looking for.  We took some pictures this weekend of some of their fun finds.  You can't see the leaves that well in the pictures, but Ethan is giving Scott and I "leaf bunny ears" in the pictures!  :-)

Dancing Brothers

So, I think they'll be ready for "So You Think You Can Dance" soon!  :-)
