Happy Spring and Easter!

Happy Easter! We had a nice day yesterday, going to church to remember the sacrifice our Lord and Savior gave for each of us when He died on the cross for our sins and then rose again! Ethan and Caleb looked so spiffy in their brand new Easter outfits that Mama Brisken bought for them. Ethan looked like such a little man, and was so proud in his little suit! He kept it on almost all day and didn't want to take it off. Caleb had a fun time looking at all the eggs in his Easter basket. He didn't like the Easter grass getting on the eggs, but once he got them out of the basket, it was great fun to shake them up and down. I don't think he ever discovered that there was something to open inside the egg, which was okay with us! Ethan on the other hand ate more candy from his eggs than he probably has in the past 6 months! He definitely has a sweet tooth like his mommy. Ethan liked the Easter egg hunt so much that he asked Daddy to re-hide all of the eggs again for a second hunt after he found them. Caleb tried to find eggs too, with Papa Bailey's help. He still isn't walking on his left leg, after tripping over a tennis ball last weekend. After two doctor visits and two sets of x-rays, they still don't see anything wrong. We are going to for an appointment with an orthopedic doctor tomorrow. So, despite Caleb's first Easter that he could've hunted for Easter eggs, unfortunately this time he didn't get to walk around. There's always next year! You can view more pictures of our Easter day with family at www.famof4brisk.shutterfly.com

After naptime and update on week

Well, I wanted to get a few pics of Caleb's crazy hair after naptime today, so I got out the camera. I ended up getting some cute shots of both of the boys - even though it started out rough with Caleb, as you can see! He didn't want to sit on his brother's lap for the picture.

On Tuesday, Caleb went for his 18 month well visit and was in the 75% for everything - weight (28 lbs), height (33 1/2 in), and even his head (19 1/2 in)! Although he still is not talking much, the dr. isn't concerned. He said as long as we continue to see improvement and him attempting words, that he is encouraged. We only came up with seven words that he attempts now, and are supposed to keep track of them over the next month and call back. The doctor said he doesn't see any fluid in his ears, and given the fact that he follows our instructions perfectly when we ask him to do things, such as take your cup to the table, etc, we don't think there is any hearing problem. I just need to remind myself to read, read, read to him - as just in the last week, he will sit still long enough to get through an entire book without getting up to do something else!

On Tuesday night, we had a huge rainstorm that unfortunately left standing water on one side of our house, so much so, that it came into our house through the floor in Ethan and Caleb's rooms. Luckily we discovered it early, and were able to wet vac out the room, and dry it out with fans and heaters for several days. There is still some mud that came up into the carpet, so eventually we will need to replace it, but hopefully we got to it soon enough that there won't be any mold growing. We would like to replace all the carpet in the house with hardwood flooring at some point, so maybe we will start with the boys' bedrooms and hallway first. The guys, Scott, his dad, and my dad, were out all afternoon digging a ditch and putting in a new drainage system for the ground on that side of the house so it won't happen again hopefully. That is the update on us! Here are a few more pictures . . .

Such a big boy!

It seems that ever since Ethan's 4th birthday, Caleb has grown into such a big boy! He is acting older and older, more like a toddler/preschooler, instead of a baby. Last weekend, Ethan got a bad virus, that mimicked the flu. He had high fevers, couldn't keep any food down, and was camped on the couch without having enough energy to walk anywhere for 5 full days. Luckily, he is finally feeling better. But the whole time he was sick, Caleb just kept on playing on his own around the living room. He knew something wasn't quite right with his big brother, but it was like he knew he had to entertain himself because mommy and daddy had to pay more attention to Ethan at the time. This morning, Caleb wanted to eat his breakfast at the coffee table with Ethan, instead of in his high chair. It is a special Saturday morning thing we let Ethan do, instead of sitting at the regular kitchen table. So, Caleb thought he was the "stuff" sitting there with matching pajamas and matching bibs with his big brother. And even tonight when we ate out for dinner at Outback, Caleb sat in a booster seat instead of a high chair. Then when we stopped at Target afterwards to pick up some toiletries we needed, Caleb wanted to walk instead of ride in the cart. He even held my finger for part of the time! I guess it's just these little things that make you realize that your baby is growing into such a big boy! Here are some pictures from this morning:
